As needed, the dietitian evaluates students’ nutritional status based on medical history, laboratory values, growth patterns, eating behaviors, and dietary requirements. When appropriate, key health indicators such as weight, height, BMI, and other metrics relevant to special needs populations are monitored.
Collaboration is central to our approach. The dietitian works closely with speech and occupational therapists, nurses, psychologists, and educators to address each student’s unique nutritional needs. They also assist in developing and reviewing school menus to accommodate dietary restrictions, food allergies, gluten intolerance, diabetes, and texture modifications.
When appropriate, the dietitian engages directly with classrooms to support hands-on learning through healthy snack preparation, basic cooking skills, and lessons on how food supports the body and overall well-being.
In addition, the dietitian provides guidance to students and staff on healthy eating habits and personalized nutrition strategies for children with special needs, while also supporting families in managing nutrition at home.
