School nursing is recognized as a specialized practice that advances the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students.
Many of the students at the Gengras Center have complex medical needs that require an exceptional level of care. Our dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are integral members of our school team, focused entirely on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of every student throughout the day.
We provide comprehensive, daily medical support, which includes:
- Intensive Daily Care: Our nurses spend their days in the classrooms and throughout the buildings, managing a constant flow of complex medical needs.
- Highly Specialized Staffing: We maintain robust staffing, including full-time school nurses supervisor (RN), a full-time school nurse (LPN) and additional LPNs to meet the high demands of our medically-involved students.
- Individualized Support: We support students who require dedicated, 1:1 LPN care throughout the school day.
- Coordinated Health Plans: In collaboration with our medical advisor, the nursing team develops and implements all necessary health policies, procedures, and Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs) for students
