Life Skills Classes
Our community-referenced Life Skills classes prepare teenagers for adulthood with the goal of each student reaching the highest level of independence possible. Our team approach involves all service providers to support our the curriculum which covers a wide range of skill areas including:
- independent living
- personal care and health
- recreation and leisure
- community participation
- gross and fine motor
- vocational
Each week we operate a coffee shop for all staff and students at Gengras to visit which provides the students with a hands-on real life application of the following tasks necessary to run a small business:
- menu development
- grocery shopping
- marketing the weekly products
- preparing baked goods, snacks, and beverages
- handling money when shopping, during sales, and counting profits
- serving customers and delivering orders
