Art
Our goals in Art this year will be addressed through themes that will cover transportation and earth sciences to parallel the school curriculum focus areas. The first half of the year will be “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” for the 1st quarter and “Ship Shapes” for the 2nd quarter. The second half of the year “Rocks, Papers and Scissors” will cover the 3rd quarter and in the 4th quarter we will discover the “Hero Inside Us”. I hope to get a clay project done once a quarter reflecting the theme using a variety of moldable substances. The artist we will discover this year is Mark Rothko. We will be developing our hallway art around festive seasonal hues in the color style of large Rothko paintings. We will continue with our online Artsonia website!
In the classroom, students will be completing their art journals and taking them home quarterly. The students will be introduced to a wide variety of mediums to complete their entries. They will have a Kahoots to follow and an art project to complete.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year. Teaching art at Gengras has helped me expand my own creative abilities. My students have inspired me to let go of expectations and to be open to random choices. Being open to the possibilities that art can create makes each work unique.
