Gengras Center school closings, delayed openings and early dismissals will be broadcast on local news stations, the school website, and/or sent out via text alerts.
Look for text alerts, watch channels 3 (WFSB), 30 (NBC), or 61 (FOX), or look up the listings on the stations’ websites. Look for GENGRAS CENTER for accurate information, NOT the University of Saint Joseph or West Hartford Public Schools.
Upon enrollment, parents or designated contacts are included in the text alert system. This system is used for all closings and emergency schedule changes.
- School closing: The Gengras Center will be closed if the University of Saint Joseph is closed due to inclement weather or an emergency or if half of the sending school districts close for the day
- Delayed opening: If the University of Saint Joseph is operating on a delayed opening schedule (60 minutes), the Gengras Center will operate on a delayed schedule as well. If area schools are on a delayed opening, we may determine it is necessary to open on a delay as well. The decision will be based on the number of schools delayed and the weather in the school’s immediate area.
- Early Dismissal: In the case of inclement weather, the Gengras Center will announce an early dismissal. Parents should monitor local media outlets (above) and text alerts for all early dismissals.
