Floor hockey is an indoor game played on flat floor surfaces, such as a basketball court. As in other hockey styles, players on each team attempt to shoot a puck into a goal using hockey sticks. Our team adheres to the rules, protocol, and etiquette outlined by the Connecticut Special Olympics organizing committee.
As our students practice each week and the main event approaches we become excited and anticipate another year of great sportsmanship and comradery. We have known many victories, but the best part is the lasting friendships and memorable moments.
As in Soccer, students who benefit from more individualized events can participate in hockey skills activities (shooting, stickhandling, passing, etc.). These events provide a level of competition for every athlete and allow for meaningful and rewarding participation. Although these events are individualized, Gengras skills athletes quickly bond as a team cheering for and sharing in the success of others.
